Technology design is taking center stage at Prairie Crossing Elementary as the integration of various technology components impacts the learning environment. Prairie Crossing will undoubtedly serve as a model to be replicated by others. Benton Community School Corporation, Fowler, Indiana, engaged Techedvise during the initial design process to simplify the convergence of technology requirements.

The highlight of this design is the IPTV – Internet Protocol Television system. Combining the engineering design of the traditional data network to include the transportation of voice (Voice over IP) and video made a tremendous impact on the overall budget with the implementation of leading edge technologies.

Additional technology design features include:

• Infrared classroom audio amplification systems that deliver crystal clear wireless sound throughout the class for instruction.
• All classrooms are equipped with voice over IP phones.
• Security and access controls were designed for a safe learning environment.
